
Professor (Mrs) Rita Akosua Dickson has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, making her the first-ever female to occupy this position.
She is set to assume office with effect from August 01, 2020, to July 31, 2024.
This comes after the Governing Council of the University at its 258th Special Meeting held on Thursday, 25th June 2020.

Prior to her appointment, she was the first female appointed to occupy the office of Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University in September 2018.
She also served as the acting Vice-Chancellor in October 2018 when Professor Obiri Danso was asked to step aside as the Vice-Chancellor during student agitation on the conversion of single-sex halls to mixed halls which led to violence on campus.

Professor (Mrs) Rita Akosua Dickson graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology by acquiring a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and MPharm in Pharmacognosy.
Professor Rita Akosua Dickson in 2003 moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a Ph.D. at Kings’ College London.
In her days of lecturing at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, She was promoted to a senior lecturer in 2009 and later became an associate professor in 2014.
Before her appointment as the first female Pro-Vice-Chancellor in September 2018, Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson was the then dean of the faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

She is a phytochemist and an expert in the management of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
